Q - Do I need to download and install special software on my server to make i-Depth work?A - No, that is the purpose of i-Depth. We do the hard work for you. All of the software for a Function is located on our servers. We give you standard HTML you place in your page to make it work. If you want it to look like an integral part of your site, you can customize most of the functions with your own HTML codes.
Q - Am I required to display an i-Depth Ad?A - No. It is not required. You can display your our ad banners within most of the functions and you can display our logo if you want to get listed in our inaction section, http://www.i-depth.com/inaction.htm. But, it is not required.
Q - Where is my FREE TRIAL sample?A - i-Depth is a service. Try our standard functions in your web pages, before you pay a cent. Our GURU will step you through the process of how to use the functions in your web pages. Sign-Up for your FREE 7 day trial. Click Here.
Q - I tried to access the i-Depth Area, but was asked for a user name and password. How do I get this name and password?A - On the main i-Depth Page there is a "Sign-Up for Membership" Area. Enter into this area and follow the directions. When you've completed the Sign-Up process you will be able to access the "i-Depth Members Only Area" to start using and customizing the Functions. There is a FREE 7 Day Trial for the standard functions. You don't need to enter any payment information to try them.
Q - I just want to see what functions are available. Do I have to become a member?A - No. On the main i-Depth Page there is a section called "i-Depth Functions". Click on this to display all of the current i-Depth functions, their descriptions and a sample of how they work. To go there now click here.
Q - How many concurrent visitors can I have accessing a Function?
A - There is no Limit - Unlimited.
Q - How reliable is the i-Depth Service?
A - Our Servers have had a 99.9% Up-Time for over a year. If our servers happen to go down the worst case is the i-Depth functions you selected would be unavailable until the service is back up. Your web site would not be affected, just the functions you're connecting to.
Q - Should it concern me that this service is on a different host server than my web pages?
A - During a typical web session a visitor may access hundreds of different servers without ever noticing. This is a very normal web operation.
Q - Can I run multiple guestbooks or forums for the standard monthly charge?
A - Yes, pricing for Basic i-Depth lets you run as many Standard Functions as you want. You only get charged extra if you exceed the 30,000 hits a month or more than 500K of disk space. Full pricing can be found here.
Q - What constitutes a hit for charging purposes? Is it a hit on the site, a hit on my page or is the use of the i-Depth product such as a form or a search?
A - A hit is tallied any time one of the i-Depth Functions scripts is accessed. Pricing for hits to static pages that reside on our servers are included in the standard i-Depth service pricing.
Q - I am thinking of using a function on behalf of a UK company. They have no credit card. How might they pay from UK ?
A - We recommend that customers outside the United States pay by Credit Card. In the case where they can not, a check made out to On-the-Net, (see pricing for checks) can be sent. It must be drawn on a US Bank and in US Funds. A valid email account must also be given. Improperly written checks will be returned.
Q - Could you please clarify what is meant by "$25 one-time fee for each occurrence" for your i-Depth GOLD functions?
A - An occurance of a GOLD function is a complete set of pages that make up a function. ie. Postcards - There is a pick & send page, a pick-up page, 2 message pages, a list of images file, 2 emails and so on. All of these can be customized and when combined make a function work. This is called an occurance.
Q - I just started a Web Design Company. I have been doing pages using basic HTML. I'd like to be able to add dynamic scripts to my clients web pages. Are your services an option for me to use to out source this type of need?
A - Yes. i-Depth is an easy and cost effective way to add dynamic functionality to your clients sites. It's all transparent to the visitor looking at the site. You customize the look of all the pages with your HTML wizardry and Design Talent. We provide the programs and servers to make it come alive. We use it for the clients we design web sites for.
Q - If I were to utilize your services for several web sites of my clients can I do it with one account?
A - Yes, it can be done but is not designed for more than a few web sites on one account. We recommend you set up an account for each client. Service is then automatically charged to the client's credit card or yours. We can also set you up with a master account access screen. This will display all your clients for easy management. Let us know if you're interested. Send a message to Admin@i-depth.com
Q - Can the banner ads be made different sizes rather than the fixed size you have specified?
A - Yes, there are two ways. The system generates default Width and Height tag. First way (and recommended if all images are the same size) is to modify the Width and Height tag. The second way is to delete the Width and Height tag. This will also allow more than one size of banner to be displayed.
Q - Is there any way to get a starting number for the counter?
A - Yes, the system provides a way for you to update this.
Q - I'm browsing the Web and your site with CompuServe's Mosaic Browser. Your web pages look funny. Is there something I can set in my browser to make it look better?
A - There is nothing you can set. Compuserve's Mosaic Browser does not support many HTML TAGS. There is a solution. Because you are a CompuServe user, you can down load a FREE copy of CompuServe's Netscape. While in Compuserve: GO NETSCAPE to get your FREE copy. It's worth the time, you will see the net in a whole new way.
Q - Does the i-Depth system run on a secure server?
A - There are four parts to Internet security:
The i-Depth system has all levels of security:
- A Physically Secure Site: so someone can not break into the premises.
- An Internet Secure Site: so someone can not access the server who is not authorized.
- A Secure Link: so data is transferred between the visitor's browser and the server in a secure manner.
- A Protected Area: this requires a user to enter a password before they can access certain web pages.
- Our servers are site secure, both physically and from the net.
- All accounts are kept in the private area.
- All Functions that require a secure server (for link security) have the option to turn secure server on or off. It is really only necessary for security of account and transmitted private information. It has no meaning with respect to i-Depth functions, like counters, banners, etc.
- The i-Depth members area is a password protected area.
A protected area function is being developed to allow password protecting forums or other functions for your pages. If this is interesting to you, please Click Here to send email telling us.
Q - Do you do custom programming and site design?
A - The answer is yes and yes. We can provide you with complete web site design and programming or just pieces to fit your needs. We can also customize the use of an i-Depth functions if you want to take advantage of our service but don't know html.
