My 3 year old male cat has been taking amitriptyline for
3 months. He has responded very well to the medication.
He takes 5 mg a day at 8pm. Before taking the medication he
was hiding under the bed for 20 hours at a time, and not
not sleeping. We started with 10 mg a day which was too much
(he is a 16 lb cat). He came out from under the bed and stopped
his other symptoms, but he was so tired all the time, and
he just wasn't himself. We cut the does down to 5 mg
and that seems to work for him.
