Patricia and Mary, declawing does not make all cats agressive or turn them into biters. Most of this is fallacy and there are, although you may not agree with them, reasons why owners choose to declaw, some of those reasons are based on whether or not a kitty will remain in the home as opposed to the fate of an animal shelter, or worse, abuse.
Cats can scratch a human to the point of severe infection that can warrant emergency medical treatment. Bleach or peroxide is not a cure-all or preventative, every person is different, some people never have a reaction to a cat scratch or bite, whereas some indeed need emergency care and treatment. Same with dog bites, I have been scratched and bit by dogs (and cats alike)so many times than I care to count, but some of those did require ER treatment.....................Traci
