In Reply to: Mary, would you consider Claritin?.........msg posted by Traci on June 01, 2001 at 09:52:18:
Hi Traci -
Currently Claritin isn't covered under my insurance . But we are changing to Blue Cross in a month, so maybe it's covered under that.
But I do have some very good news tho :)
I brought Bijou into work today, and of course everyone fell totally in love with her. I finally had to put her in the carrier so she could take a nap, poor thing was exhausted from so much attention and everyone wanting to play with her! There are at least a half dozen people who said they would definitely take her.. one woman even started backing away from me holding Bijou and I had to say "hey, wait a minute!!"
My number one choice is a very good friend of mine.. she fell in love with Bijou and would give her a GREAT home. She was already asking if Bijou tried making a dash for the door, she definitely believes in indoor kitties. She would definitely have Bijou spayed, NOT declawed, and would take her to the vet every year for a check-up.
She's a great person, very loving, I know her husband and I totally love him too, he's great. They have two little kids, 3 and 6, and I know the kids as well, and feel comfortable that they would be very gentle with Bijou. So she placed a call to him and is waiting to hear back. I really hope he says it's OK, because they would be the perfect family for little Bijou. Plus, I'd get to see Bijou sometimes, and she is an ameteur photographer so I could see lots of picturs too.
My second choice also sounds OK. Her cat died last Thanksgiving, and she finally feels it's time for a new kityt. Her old cat was originally found as a stray, she said he was terrified of people, especially kids, and she said it took years and years before he finally trusted her. She loved him dearly, and would never have given him up, but said that next time around she wanted a kitty who was good with people, and Bijou is. I think after her patience over all those years, loving that cat and not giving up on him, she deserves to have a kitty like Bijou who will just love her unconditionally from the start.
So I kind of feel like no matter which of them gets her, Bijou will hav a good loving home, and will be well taken care of. So even tho it's sad, I feel good.. you should have seen the looks on these people's faces while they were holding her :) I feel good that I can bring some happiness and joy into their lives (and yes I know - that sounds very corny;)
Anyway, so there's the update. :)

: I'm not familiar with Allegra, but I do use Claritin on a regular basis. I am not allergic to cats, but I have sinus troubles, and I just wonder if your physician may be able to offer you something else. I cannot find the words to post more, I hope you can try the bathing and see if that would help, plus talk with your physician. I understand completely the allergies taking over your life, but I do so hope there is some way to keep BiJou, I'm praying hard.................................Traci
