: I am having problems downloading through the DV port on my Canon Elura 2. What i do is turn the computer on, put the camcorder in VCR mode, and plug in the firewire cable into the camcorder, then nothing happens.
: I have a tried it on windows 98 and windows 2000. On the win 98 i tried moving around the PCI slots of the IEEE 1394 to try to get rid of IRQ problems. (the win 2000 firewire port was confirmed to work already). I have downloaded all of the firewire updates and patches for both OS's.
: Software programs i have tried to capture with: Adobe Preimere 5.5 Full, Digital Origin's IntroDV Trial, and Ulead Videostudio Trial.
: Nothing has worked yet..PLEASE HELP!!!
I had the same problem and just solved it a couple seconds after reading your posting. I went into CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM > DEVICE MANAGER > 1394 BUS CONTROL > FIREWIRE CARD > PROPERTIES > SETTINGS... at this point I pushed the defaults button which unchecked the boxes for "support non-compliant devices" and "diagnostic mode". rebooted the computer and voila it worked. I use adobe premiere 6 in case you were wondering.
best of luck
