The USB reader by SanDisk works like a charm.
It requires no AC power, and appears in Win Explorer just like another drive.
It transfers FAST to the PC. I've never tried the floppy adaptor, but I'm assuming the USB will transfer faster.

The USB reader is only around $40+/- where the floppy adaptor is more like $80.
If you go with the USB reader, make sure you buy the one that works with the MMC cards. Sandisk makes a different reader for compact flash,smartmedia and Multimedia cards.
