: : Are you using flash or not, I have JVC 9800 when I use it shooting still day light is fine but indoor or at night. I have the same problem. I do not understand why JVC made the still picture object whiter than normal when using flash(from manual)?

: : : The color in footage and especially stills seems dark, cold & lifeless, when the camera is on automatic. When I use manual, and adjust the white balance, I get the following results::: M--- strong bluish tint, *-pastel-ish color, **- stronger color, but maybe a little too strong, ^- barely any color. These results are usually inside with florescent + some incandescent light. The colors also seem to be several shades off: purples seem blue etc. I suspect a defective white balance, especially on automatic. Any hints???? Thanks ahead of time. Niki

: I had problems with the colors the jvc recorded on video, progressive scan, and stills. Also with the flash pictures, Example: shooting stills or video of a pre-sunrise, it didn't come close to recording the light and dark pinks I saw with the naked eye. Inside, also with the video, stills etc, golds recorded as beige, and other colors seemed several shades off (much flater than they should be). Stills taken outside of a frosted tree scene came out with a strong blue cast, especially when transposed to computer. This happened in automatic mode mostly, but also occurred ( to a somewhat lesser extent) when I used manual and balanced the white to the snow. Niki

After several discussions with jvc customer service reps, I decided to send the 90 in for repair (at their suggestion) (under warranty). A faulty white balance was suspected, but I also suspect possible malfunctioning of the progressive color filter. Scared me to send it off like that, especially in this winter weather. I'll try to post results of their "repair". Niki
