Don't know much about the JVC other than it has prog scan and a flash for stills. The PC110 has the following going for it.
1. A good flash which pops up (very cool)
2. If you hold it, you will find it's more ergonomic than the JVC which looks more rectangular. The Sony has a plastic support where your pinky rests.
3. SuperNight shot in absolute darkness. This feature does not work for stills or mpeg but the regular Nightshot mode works for stills and mpeg. So, note that there are 2 night modes. SuperNight shot good for observing wildlife at night if you are so inclined.
4. USB out - I don't have time (yet) to fool with DV editing. I just wanted to send mpegs/stills to family and friends. Plus my computer can't take another card.
5. Battery lasts 1-2 hrs depending on use.
6. Carl Zeiss T* lens
One advantage JVC might have other than prog scan is that it has a built in lens cover. The Sony's lens cover dangles when it's off.
