: Can anyone tell me, which one is a better buy ?

I did so much research on GR-DVX90 and finally bought PC110. I called up JVC Singapore several times and asked for lot of details. In fact, I found out, except for DVX90's ability to capture images at 1 mega pixel like PC110, GRVX90 comes with very good features. My only worry was when the agent told me that even though they print some compatible accessories on the dvx90 flyer, some of them are not available since, it seems that Japan does not export them. I still do not know why most of the sellers just condemn JVC.

: 2. JVC video clip feature - does it offer mpeg movie or stills video.

Yes . It says that it offers those options.
In fact, it say that it offers a dual mode which means while videoing, one could capture stills as well. The progressive scan option would not give you blurred stills. Sony PC110 has Progressive Shutter mode.(which does the same it seems. Progressive shutter could be used only for stills whereas progressive scan could be used in filming. Yet, the hitch is, filmed in progressive scan mode played on TV gives a noticeable flicker due to TV's half band width system)I read this valuable article here at this forum.

:Being a novice, I wouldn't know if recorded movie from the DV can be transferred to PC w/o loss of quality and selected clips converted to short MPEG movies?

Recorded movies could be transfered to PC only if you have a capture card. But Mpegs, upto about 15 to 20 second clips could be recorded on to memory stick in pC110 and copied to PC and view. dvx 90 also offers this feature.

3. JVC offers 200x zoom while Sony offers 120x..does it make a vital difference?

Anything more than optical zoom will be just with no quality.

All in all, both models come with quite similar features. Although Sony is good in its 0 lux and has a night shot mode. So it all depends what you decide to buy. It is still too early for me to predict what I should've bought. I am yet to do a videoing. Still appear to be so damn great. The flash is powerfull. Yet, the main thing I am looking forward to is to see the quality of a video footage.

Good luck!
