: Seeking information on current market trends for 17th and 18th Century Chinese Export Porcelain. Any information would be appreciated.

The last auction of a private collection held in NY did not do as well as I thought. There were 2 basins form the Leake-Okeover armorial service and although they had high estimates failed to meet the reserve. there were about12 plates from this service also and they met the auction estimates. The market for Chinese export in my opinion is bizarre, and tastes differ widley between collectors. I am stumped as to why someone would pay $110,000 for a covered dish from the DeWitt-Clinton service and not raise their paddle on the Leake-Okeover.
I collect the armorials and the choices are narrowing immensely.
