Dear Marian,
All of those places are fine, but not "close", i.e. walkable to Castleconnell - you would need a car. I doubt if you could get workable bus schedules in those remote areas, and taxis would run into considerable expense and may not always be available. You would be better off looking into the B&B that I recommended, or rent a car. Or ask the places listed above how would they arrange for you to get to Castleconnell each day. They might know a local with a car who would be willing to provide a car service. Did you have any luck with asking the hotel to wait-list you? or trying for booking one of the self-catering cottages? Lastly, have you asked Janet Harbison at the Harp School for help?
