Hi,
I have come across a rather LARGE item that resembles an opal. This is literally the shape and size of a Large Grade A egg! It is beautiful to say the least. It has the opalesence of an opal with no visible flaws or spots. It has an overall translucent blue...but when held to natural light emits a thin yellow orange layer....but the internal body 3/4 or more is comprised mostly of a "glowing"red. The red is also translucent or transparent...fluoresence if you will.
The outer body of this "egg" is a matte or unpolished finish. But, with an addition of glycerine or mineral oil it has a glow/reflection of red that actually shines through into the shadow.
What is this?? Please can someone educate me??
Thanks,
N.H
