The software industry is one of the hottest growing segments of the IT industy. If you have current HR professional experience there are dozens of small software companies looking for you and your skills right now. The pace in the software industry can be quiet hectic, but the salary & bonuses could be quite lucrative. If you need help, I know of at least one recruiter on the East Coast that specializes in working with HR professionals on a nationwide basis.
